Indian cinema director, producer, and screenwriter Boyapati Srinivas is also known as Boyapati Srinu or Boyapati Sreenu. Boyapati has won two state Nandi Awards and is most recognized for directing action movies in Telugu cinema.
Boyapati Srinivas was born in Pedakakani, in the Andhra Pradeshi district of Guntur.After graduating from JKC College in Guntur, he pursued his post-graduate studies at Nagarjuna University. His relatives own a photography business. Boyapati was a part-time reporter for the Eenadu newspaper and had a passion for photography.
He relocated to Hyderabad to pursue a career in film, and in 1997 his cousin Posani Krishna Murali that Boyapati work in the direction department of Muthyala Subbaiah studio. For movies like Oka Chinna Maata, Gokulamlo Seeta, Pelli Chesukundam, Pavitra Prema, Annayya, and Manasunna Maaraju, Boyapati collaborated with Subbaiah.
Boyapati is married to Vilekha, and the couple has three children.
Bhadra, which starred Ravi Teja, Meera Jasmine, and Prakash Raj, was directed by Boyapati in 2005. It was his second movie, Tulasi. Simha, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna in a dual role opposite Nayanthara and Sneha Ullal, was Boyapati’s third film to be released in 2010.
Dammu, his fourth film, was released in 2012 and starred Jr. NTR, Trisha, and Karthika Nair. Later in the year, Boyapati collaborated once again with Balakrishna on the film Legend, which debuted to excellent reviews and was hailed as a “mass, masala entertainer with some sentimental touch that will appeal to both the classes and the masses.”
