Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer Aditya Dhar was born on March 12, 1983. His most well-known work is Uri: The Surgical Strike, a 2019 military action movie. Based on the 2016 Uri incident, Dhar made his directorial debut in 2019 with Uri: The Surgical Strike, an action movie produced by RSVP Movies and starring Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, and Paresh Rawal in key roles. The film, which was filmed in Serbia, is a fictionalized dramatization of the actual events surrounding the 2016 Uri attack reprisal. Uri was the tenth highest-grossing Indian film at home, earning ₹2.4 billion (US$27 million) in India and over ₹3.5 billion (US$40 million) globally. Dhar received both the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Director and the National Film Award for Best Director.
In 2021, Dhar established his own producing firm, Aditya Dhar Films. He and Kaushal will reunite in the mythological superhero film The Immortal Ashwatthama, which also stars Sara Ali Khan. The projected trilogy has Ronnie Screwvala’s support. Filming was supposed to begin in mid-2021, but the COVID-19 outbreak in India and financial concerns caused delays. The movie was announced on the second anniversary of Uri’s release.
