Dakota Avery Goyo (born August 22, 1999) is a Canadian former actor, best recognized for his roles as Max Kenton in Real Steel (2011) and Jesse Barrett in Dark Skies (2013). He also provided the voice of Jamie Bennett in DreamWorks Animation’s Rise of the Guardians (2012).
Born to Debra, a former model and singer who also managed his career, and David Goyo, he grew up with two older brothers, Devon and Dallas.
Goyo began his career in commercials as an infant and went on to appear in numerous television and animated series. His early TV credits include JoJo’s Circus (2005), Ultra (2006), Super Why! (2008), Murdoch Mysteries (2008), The Listener (2009), My Neighbor’s Secret (2009), Happy Town (2010), and a recurring role as Timmy Tibble in Arthur (2010).
In 2009, he starred as the title character in the ABC pilot Solving Charlie, portraying a gifted orphan with an IQ of 190 who aids his detective brother in solving crimes. Earlier, he appeared in films such as Resurrecting the Champ (2007) as Teddy, the son of Josh Hartnett’s character, and Emotional Arithmetic (2007) as Timmy, the grandson of Susan Sarandon’s character.
Goyo’s breakout came in 2011 with Real Steel, where he played Max Kenton, the estranged son of Hugh Jackman’s character, and he also portrayed young Thor in Marvel’s Thor (2011). He went on to voice Jamie in Rise of the Guardians (2012) and starred in the sci-fi thriller Dark Skies (2013).
