Story:

The Viral Fever is the creator of the comedic drama streaming television series Panchayat, which is available on Amazon Prime Video in Hindi. With Jitendra Kumar, Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Sanvikaa, Chandan Roy, Durgesh Kumar, Ashok Pathak, Faisal Malik, and Sunita Rajwar in the cast, the series was directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and scripted by Chandan Kumar.

It tells the story of an engineering graduate who, after being denied better employment opportunities, accepts a position as a Panchayat secretary in the isolated fictional village of Phulera, Uttar Pradesh.

In Mahodiya, in the Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh, a real panchayat office served as the location for filming the series. The Madhya Pradesh capital city of Bhopal is about 40 km away from the Sehore district.

Anurag Saikia composed the series’ soundtrack and score, while Amitabha Singh and Amit Kulkarni handled the filming and editing, respectively. This is Mishra’s first-ever full-length directing endeavor; she previously directed the corresponding second seasons of Humorously Yours! and Permanent Roommates.

On April 3, 2020, Panchayat made its Amazon Prime Video debut. Reviews of the series were largely positive, praising the leading actors’ performances as well as the writing, directing, and major technical elements.

Critics also commended TVF and its producers for creating a rural village setting rather than their previous projects, which were primarily centered on an urban atmosphere. With the exception of Best Actress, the series won every nomination in the Comedy Series category at the first-ever Filmfare OTT Awards. In addition, the series was nominated for Best Original Story, Screenplay, and Chandan Kumar Dialogues, albeit it was not awarded a prize.

The show’s second season was slated to premiere on May 20, 2022. All of the episodes, though, were made available two days ahead of schedule. Abhishek appears to be studying for the CAT exam this season while also showing an increased interest in local politics and events.

The third season of the show has been renewed. It was delayed from its January 15, 2024, initial launch date. Then, in March 2024, the release date was scheduled, but it was once more delayed. It made its debut on May 28, 2024. This season’s main focus is on the politics surrounding the Panchayat elections.
