Anant Mahadevan, born on August 28, 1956, also known as Anant Mahadevan, is a versatile Indian figure in the realms of screenwriting, acting, and film direction across Hindi, Marathi, and Tamil cinema, along with contributions to television. With a career spanning since the 1980s, he has been a significant presence in Indian TV serials and Hindi films. Additionally, Mahadevan has a role in the realm of professional English and Hindi theater.
In collaboration with Sanjay Pawar, Ananth received the National Award in 2010 for Best Screenplay and Dialogues for the acclaimed Marathi film “Mee Sindhutai Sapkal,” earning him a special jury award at the National Film Awards the same year.
One of Mahadevan’s films, “Gour Hari Dastaan,” was featured in the Indian Panorama at the International Film Festival of India (2014) in Goa, the International Film Festival of Kerala IFFK (2014), the International Film Festival of Bangalore, and the International Film Festival of Chennai (2014).
In the 2018 Hindi feature film “Evening Shadows,” directed by Sridhar Rangayan and produced by Solaris Pictures, Ananth takes on the role of Damodar. His character is portrayed as a strict patriarch with firm opinions, desiring obedience from his family members—his wife Vasudha (Mona Ambegaonkar), sister Sarita (Yamini Singh), and son Kartik (Devansh Doshi). Ananth’s upcoming film is titled “Mission Ranigan.”
