Biography:

Karunakaran is an Indian actor renowned for his roles in character and comedian roles within the Tamil film industry. He achieved his breakthrough in the film “Soodhu Kavvum” in 2013. He has also played supporting roles in notable films like “Yaamirukka Bayamey,” “Jigarthanda,” and “Indru Netru Naalai.”

Born on January 28, 1981, Karunakaran originally pursued a career as a chemical engineer, graduating from SASTRA University and working as an IT professional at Accenture. However, his life took a turn when he collaborated with his friend, the short film maker Nalan Kumarasamy. Nalan cast him in a short film for the reality television show “Naalaya Iyakkunar,” marking Karunakaran’s initial foray into the world of cinema. His breakthrough came when he portrayed Vijay Sethupathi’s friend in the film “Pizza” (2012), which led him to focus on a career in the film industry.

His impressive performances in “Soodhu Kavvum,” “Yaamirukka Bayamey,” and “Jigarthanda” garnered critical acclaim and established him as a prominent figure in the Tamil film industry. Karunakaran’s comedic talent and exceptional performances in these films helped him gain recognition and popularity in the industry. He received the Best Comedian Award for his role in “Indru Netru Naalai” (2015).
