Aspiring director Ashwin meets actor Vishnu Vishal to tell the story of his first movie, “Vidiyale Vaa,” which is a parody thriller and tale of a psycho killer. The actor advises Ashwin to return with a more compelling tale, though. King, the actor’s manager, suggests a romantic tale that fits the actor’s persona. In light of his previous connections with three distinct ladies, Ashwin chooses to tell a love story about them. He starts with the account of his first love, which took place while he was in the ninth grade.
He was raised in a chaotic household; his mother works at a bank, while his father, a devout astrologer, quit his government job to start a business. Ashwin flees into the realm of movies and finds comfort in his paternal uncle Murali, a theater manager.
Ashwin’s idea of love is shaped by idealized film depictions, and he starts to feel something for Raveena, a senior in school and their apartment’s neighbor. On the terrace, Raveena and Ashwin meet covertly and kiss. Although Rakesh “Rasna” Narayanan, Ashwin’s buddy, claims that Raveena loves him, Ashwin subsequently learns that Christopher is truly Raveena’s genuine love.
Heartbroken, Ashwin approaches Raveena, who clearly doesn’t want a romantic relationship with him and rejects him. Ashwin then purposefully omits the mention of his second love story in favor of his third, in which he falls in love with Meera, the cousin of his best friend Anjali. Ashwin goes with Meera to Goa for the bachelorette party, and Rasna is being married to Anjali.
Ashwin and Meera become closer as Rasna and Anjali spend more time together, and Ashwin finds Meera’s practicality appealing. Even though Ashwin and Meera are three years apart in age, Ashwin thinks he has found the one. Gopal “Gops,” Meera’s ex-boyfriend, is brought up, and Ashwin talks about his second romantic encounter while attending college.
She was a lesbian who was in love with Anjali and was using Ashwin to get close to her. He had been smitten by a female who appeared interested in him. Touched by Ashwin’s naivete, Meera gives him a kiss. But when Ashwin gets into a road rage incident on their way back from the trip, Meera is taken aback by his aggressive demeanor, which makes her think of her uncle’s roughness. She yells at him and then says she’s sorry. Meera acknowledges her thoughts with a kiss when Ashwin asks if she loves him.
Ashwin begins serving as Mysskin’s associate director under her direction. However, Ashwin moves out and stays with Murali because his father disapproves of his son’s choice of career. Meera tries to calm Ashwin, but she feels uneasy because of his rage and leaves. Meera is tortured at home by her uncle, who takes advantage of her father’s possessions, assaults her mother, and stops them from relocating to the United States. Meera calls Ashwin in desperation, but he doesn’t answer. Unresolved trauma causes their relationship to worsen, leading to a furious quarrel in which Meera accuses Ashwin of being self-centered. Meera becomes afraid of Ashwin’s anger, which ultimately causes them to split up.
Upon discovering that the story is based on Ashwin’s actual life, Vishnu Vishal insists on a sincere and non-fictional conclusion and pushes Ashwin to meet Meera and record their reunion in real life for the second part of the movie. Although Ashwin is upset, Vishnu Vishal is eager to work with him if he provides a realistic ending. Years after they split up, Ashwin is now working as an associate director for Mysskin, a movie whose plot revolves around Vayamma (Vishnu Vishal) forgoing violence because of his love for Padma (Anju Kurian). Ashwin finds resonance in this role. He chooses to go visit Meera in Manipal when Mysskin implores him to set aside his pride and see her again.
Ashwin learns that Meera and her ex-boyfriend Gops are getting engaged and that they intend to relocate to the United States shortly. Vishnu Vishal urges Ashwin to write another narrative after Ashwin apologizes to Meera for his immature actions during their split, but their reunion doesn’t result in a love rekindling. In the meantime, Meera breaks up with Gops after learning that he merely intended to marry her in order to obtain a visa to the United States. Ashwin chooses to divorce his parents in order to concentrate on resolving his family’s problems. After missing his wife, Ashwin’s father starts to see his errors. Ashwin rushes to save Meera’s mother after learning that she was locked in a room at Anjali’s house.
But after slipping on a damp floor, he is admitted to the hospital. Meera thinks Ashwin didn’t come to Manipal to apologize, just to film his movie. Her opinion of Ashwin shifts after she watches a video of Vishnu Vishal discussing Ashwin’s hesitation to turn their love story into a movie in order to preserve Meera’s tranquil existence, and she makes the decision to see him in Chennai. Meera inadvertently enters a scene where a bombing is planned during the movie production. Meera saves Ashwin, who is caught in the blast while rushing to protect her. She expresses guilt for her previous behavior and apologizes for misinterpreting him. Vishnu Vishal consents to move forward with the Ashwin and Meera love tale movie now that they are back together.
