OTTStory:
Vivek Daschaudary is the director of the 2026 Indian Hindi-language black comedy thriller Toaster. Under KAMPA Films, Rajkummar Rao, Patralekha, and Tarun Bali are the producers. This is Patralekha’s first film production. Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra play the main parts in the movie. The narrative centers on a stingy man who develops an unreasonable obsession with a toaster he gave to a married couple and becomes embroiled in a series of accidents involving chaos and murder. On April 15, 2026, the movie debuted on Netflix.
Plot
Living with his wife, Shilpa (Sanya Malhotra), is Ramakant (Rajkummar Rao), a frugal proprietor of a perfume shop. They are tenants of Mrs. D’Souza (Seema Pahwa), who shares a building with her son Glen (Abhishek Banerjee). The pair attends a wedding and gives the newlyweds a ₹4,999 toaster; however, Ramakant chooses to take back the present without telling Shilpa when the marriage dissolves just one day later. He is told that an orphanage has already received all of the wedding gifts. The orphanage’s head, Nandini (Farah Khan), won’t give the toaster back because it has already been used. Ramakant’s effort to steal it that evening is unsuccessful, but Glen soon succeeds in doing so.
After Nandini reports the theft and names Ramakant as the primary suspect, the police show up at his home the next day. Ramakant, meantime, sees Glen bringing the toaster to a shopping center to meet an enigmatic man. Mrs. D’Souza dies shortly after. Ramakant discovers the toaster while at her house and tries to take it, but an inebriated Glen stops him. Glen unintentionally dies after falling off the balcony during the ensuing altercation. Malini Pherwani (Archana Puran Singh), an old neighbor, records the event and uses the video to coerce Ramakant into having sex. Ramakant’s marriage to Shilpa starts to suffer as a result of his frequent evenings away from home.
In desperation, Ramakant begs Guddu (Vinod Rawat), his perfume supplier, to step in and handle Malini. Ramakant is compelled to bury Guddu’s body after Malini subdues him and murders him. The man Glen had met at the mall, Inspector Balagode (Upendra Limaye), looks into the disappearances while surreptitiously looking for the same toaster. When Nandini updates him on the stolen case, he begins to suspect Ramakant. Malini steps in and pays Nandini for the toaster so that the allegations against Ramakant are dropped when Balagode tries to arrest him. Later, when the Inspector approaches Malini, she appears to kill him and makes Ramakant dispose of the body once more.
As the two try to bury Balagode in the same grave as Guddu, Shilpa, who has been following them covertly, confronts them. They are shocked to learn that Balagode is still alive. He holds them at gunpoint and reveals that an SD card containing a high-ranking politician’s embarrassing footage is inside the toaster. He was unaware that Malini had concealed Ramakant’s video on the same toaster.
Malini kills Balagode in a final fight, but Ramakant and Shilpa kill her in self-defense.To get the evidence, the politician shows up with his goons. The politician smashes the card that Ramakant gives him before releasing the couple. But Ramakant tells Shilpa that he used the politician’s proof as leverage and deceived him into erasing the blackmail video of himself.
