TheatreDream Warrior Pictures produces the science fiction melodrama film Oke Oka Jeevitham (translates to “One and only life”), which was written and directed by Shree Karthick, a debutante, in 2022. Both Telugu and Tamil versions of the movie, titled Kanam (transl. Moment), were simultaneously shot. Ritu Varma, Amala Akkineni, and Sharwanand are the main actors. In the Telugu version, Vennela Kishore, Priyadarshi, and Nassar have supporting roles; in the Tamil version, Sathish and Ramesh Thilak take their places.
August 2019 saw the start of the movie’s production, which was mostly filmed in Hyderabad and Chennai. The COVID-19 pandemic caused an 8-month delay in the film’s production, which was eventually wrapped up in November 2020.
The movie opened in theatres on September 9, 2022. It debuted to favourable reviews from reviewers and did well at the box office.
Scientists Paul and Michael use their time machine to conduct an experiment on March 28, 1998, but the device malfunctions and Michael loses his life.
Adhi, Seenu (Telugu)/Paandi (Tamil), and Chaitu (Telugu)/Kathir (Tamil) are friends who are having difficulties in their lives in 2019. Due to stage fright, Adhi, an aspiring musician, has never received a break. Chaitu/Kathir, on the other hand, has not been able to find a suitable bride. Seenu/Paandi laments not doing his homework during his school years.
Paul phones Seenu/Paandi, a real estate agent, one day and tells him he’s living in an isolated house. Adhi and Chaitu/Kathir accompany Seenu/Paandi as they show Paul the house. Adhi is taken aback, nevertheless, when he discovers the boxes are dated March 28, 1998—a day before his mother passed away. After hearing this, Paul persuades Adhi that, in exchange for stopping the experiment and saving Michael from death, he can use the time machine to save his mother. Seenu/Paandi and Chaitu/Kathir go along to alter their own destiny. They set up the time machine in Seenu’s/Paandi’s grandfather’s abandoned home. Paul gives them an explanation of time travel laws. The three go back in time to March 1, 1998, as the date is set.
They disguise themselves to get close to their younger selves, whom they recognise in their school. Adhi makes friends with his mother and starts teaching his younger self—known as Kutlu—how to play the guitar. Adhi tries to ensure his mother, who is expected to perish in an automobile accident, is safe. While Seenu/Paandi joins as a peon to personally oversee his younger self’s education, Chaitu/Kathir becomes an auto driver in order to bring his younger self close to Sita, who grows up to be a beautiful woman.
On March 26, 1998, Kutlu gets ready to compete in his school’s cultural event. That morning, Kutlu is dropped off at his school by Adhi’s mother. Giving him her ring will help him perform with confidence. Young Chaitu/Kathir and Seenu/Paandi, on the other hand, discover the time machine, suspect, and follow their elder selves. After telling Kutlu about this, the three abruptly depart the school. After scanning Kutlu’s iris, which is the same as Adhi’s, the time machine activates. The children are transported to 2019 by the machine. Together with the time machine that holds Paul’s 1998 details, the older three realise their younger selves are missing. They understand that finding Paul and using his ancient time machine to travel to 2019 is the only way to make things right.
To locate the missing children, the police file a kidnapping case and suspect older Chaitu/Kathir and Seenu/Paandi. Adhi makes her a promise to bring her son back when his mother experiences a depressive episode. The three older members make a fruitless search for Paul. The younger three wander the city aimlessly in search of assistance after realising they have arrived in the future, until Adhi’s girlfriend Vaishnavi discovers them. When she learns that Adhi, Chaitu/Kathir, and Seenu/Paandi are younger people, she is astounded. Vaishnavi receives an explanation from Paul, who also informs her that he needs a day to reset the time machine so the children can return. Kutlu hears rumours that his mother is about to pass away. The trio gets away and discovers the reality.
The older three unintentionally run into Michael on March 28, 1998, but the police are after them. When they discover the ancient time machine, they beg Paul to switch it off. Michael proceeds regardless and perishes in the collision. Adhi flees the next day to save his mother, but the police take everyone into custody. Adhi discovers his mother driving after her vehicle breaks down. Adhi admits that he is her son as he tries to persuade her to return to safety but she refuses. Sadly, Adhi’s mother passes away after being struck by a truck.
