“Neevevaro” (translated as “Who are you?”) is a 2018 Telugu romantic action thriller directed by Hari Nath and produced by Kona Venkat and M.V.V. Satyanarayana. The film features Aadhi, Taapsee Pannu, and Ritika Singh and is a remake of the 2017 Tamil film “Adhe Kangal,” directed by Rohin Venkatesan.
The narrative follows Kalyan (Aadhi Pinisetty), a blind chef who owns a successful restaurant in Hyderabad. Despite his loving family and the admiration of his workers, Kalyan’s life takes an unexpected turn when Vennela (Taapsee Pannu) enters the scene. Vennela seeks Kalyan’s help in feeding a homeless person, and a connection blossoms between them.
However, Vennela reveals a dark secret—she owes a substantial debt to a dangerous gang.In an attempt to save Vennela, Kalyan agrees to repay her debt but faces a tragic accident that leaves him unconscious for three weeks. Miraculously, upon waking up, Kalyan discovers that he has regained his sight. Concerned for Vennela’s safety, he embarks on a search, only to face a series of bewildering events.
Complicating matters, Kalyan, urged by his parents, agrees to marry his childhood friend Anu (Ritika Singh). The night before the wedding, Vennela’s father pleads for Kalyan’s help, revealing that Vennela has been abducted by the gang. Kalyan, driven by love, decides to repay the debt again.As the climax unfolds, Kalyan finds himself entangled in a web of deception.
Vennela’s supposed death and subsequent events lead him to unravel a complex scam orchestrated by Vennela herself. The revelation exposes her as a con artist targeting blind individuals who have received a state award for their achievements.The film concludes with the trio of Kalyan, Anu, and Constable Chokka Rao devising a plan to catch Vennela in the act of cheating another blind man.
The elaborate scheme results in Vennela’s arrest, and the story takes an unexpected twist when it’s revealed that she was not mentally ill but was biding her time for a chance to resume her fraudulent activities.The court sentences Vennela, whose real name is Kalavathi, to three years in jail but sends her to a mental hospital due to her mental illness. The film ends with a surprising revelation that Kalavathi is not mentally ill and has been patiently waiting for an opportunity to restart her fraudulent ways.
