Tharun Sudhir co-wrote and directed the 2023 Indian Kannada action drama film Kaatera, which was also produced by Rockline Venkatesh. A true story that happened in a Karnataka village in the 1970s served as the basis for the movie. In addition to Aradhana Ram (in her first role), Jagapathi Babu, Kumar Govind, Vinod Kumar Alwa, and Shruti, Darshan plays the title role in the movie. V. Harikrishna wrote the music, and Sudhakar, S. Raj, and K. M. Prakash were in charge of the filming and editing.

The main photography session started on August 5, 2022, and it took place in a number of Bangalore and Hyderabad sites. Plot

In the 1970s, Kaatera (Darshan), a blacksmith in Bheemanahalli, lives with his brother-in-law Mahadevanna, sister Kumari, and other family members. In order for the farmers to flee the feudal landowners Devaraya and Kaalegowda, who are torturing them in order to collect taxes, Kaatera must overcome several obstacles in order to enact the Land Reforms Act.

Shanubogha’s daughter Prabhavathi has loved Kaatera since she was a young child. Kaatera accepts her love against her parents’ objections because of caste prejudice, and Prabhavathi departs with her. Kaatera finds out shortly before the wedding that Devaraya has dispatched 108 expert fighters to obliterate him and his hamlet. After killing the fighters, Kaatera goes home to discover Prabhavathi dead. After killing Devaraya for Prabhavathi’s murder, an incensed Kaatera is imprisoned.

1989: After the skeletons are discovered by the forensic team, forensic officer Reena D’Souza instructs the police to start the inquiry. Because of Kaatera’s kindness, Reena seals the case as natural death after learning about her past from a police officer who was one of the combatants.

In the meantime, Kaatera is granted parole by Mahadevanna and the villagers. When Kaatera goes to the event, she meets Paddu, Prabhavathi’s brother. Paddu’s role in Prabhavathi’s demise is revealed by Kaatera. According to Paddu, he killed Prabhavathi because he was furious about her union with Kaatera. In order to get revenge for Prabhavathi’s passing, Kaatera murders Paddu. Kaatera exhorts the villagers to end caste prejudice and treat one another with respect. In the hopes that the villagers will change, Kaatera honors Prabhavathi and goes back to prison.
