Plot
Kireet Das, a member of the Golconda High School Board of Trustees, proposes turning the school’s cricket field into an IIT coaching facility. Although Principal Viswanath is in the minority, he strongly opposes that idea. Kireet puts it to him that in order to keep the playground, he must demonstrate improvement in at least one sport.
They decide that if the school’s cricket team wins the state championship, the ground will stay with the school. Vishwanath calls on Sampath, a former pupil with a questionable background, to provide them with coaching. Under Siddanth’s leadership, the team rejects Sampath’s training because they lack discipline.
Next, with a haughty demeanor, Siddanth challenges Sampath to a cricket match between students and professors, with the understanding that if the students prevail, they will no longer adhere to his instruction. Siddanth, who is upset, abandons his losing team towards the end of the game.
After that, Gowtham assumes captaincy, and the students win the match only because Sampath intentionally is bowled out in the final over. Siddanth opposes Sampath’s decision to follow him, but the pupils are won over by his skill at cricket. Later on, when Sampath assists in removing a police case against Mikey, one of their teammates, they come to understand Sampath’s caring character and accept his teaching completely.
Siddanth finally does the same. The GHS team becomes even more driven to win every game after learning of the agreement between Kireet and Viswanath over the cricket field. In the championship game, the squad advances to play the formidable Everglades squad. The GHS lads find out just before the championship game that Sampath and Sundar, the Everglades coach, have some history of animosity.
The team begins to distrust Sampath and lose concentration as he declines to disclose his personal history with Sundar, which allows their opponents to score a large amount. During the intermission, Viswanath informs the lads of the precise events that transpired between Sampath and Sundar fifteen years prior after learning of the miscommunication between the coach and the team.
He informs them that during the final championship game, in which Sampath had performed admirably, Sundar—another former GHS student—intentionally had him run out. Sampath lost all chance of playing cricket in the future when Sundar blacklisted him in an attempt to achieve personal glory.
When Sampath refuses to reveal his personal history with Sundar, the team starts to mistrust him and becomes distracted, which gives their opponents a significant advantage. After discovering the discrepancy between the coach and the team during halftime, Viswanath tells the boys exactly what happened between Sampath and Sundar fifteen years earlier.
He tells them that Sundar, another former GHS student, purposely had Sampath run out during the championship game, where Sampath had played brilliantly. When Sundar banned Sampath from playing cricket in an effort to gain notoriety for himself, he was forever removed from the game. The cricket ground is spared, and Golconda High School wins the title for the first time in fifteen years.
