Swati Reddy, born on April 19, 1987, is an Indian actress and TV presenter primarily active in Telugu cinema, as well as Tamil and Malayalam films. She is affectionately known as “Colours Swathi,” a nickname derived from her role in the Telugu TV show “Colours,” which aired on Maa TV.
After starting with supporting roles, she made her debut as a lead actress in the Tamil film “Subramaniapuram” in 2008. Her performance in the Telugu film “Ashta Chamma” in 2008 earned her both the Filmfare Award and Nandi Award for Best Actress. Additionally, she has worked as a dubbing artist and contributed as a playback singer in a few films. Some of her other notable movies include “Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule” (2007), “Swamy Ra Ra” (2013), “Amen” (2013), and “Karthikeya” (2014).
Swathi Reddy was born in Vladivostok, a city in the southern region of the Soviet Union. Her father, an Indian Navy officer, was in the Soviet Union for submarine training when she was born. Initially named ‘Svetlana’ by a Russian doctor, her mother later changed it to ‘Swathi.’ She has an elder brother named Siddharth.
The family relocated to Mumbai and later to Visakhapatnam in the Eastern Naval Command, where she spent her formative years. Swathi attended St. Francis De Sales’ School in Visakhapatnam for her schooling. In the 11th grade, she moved to Hyderabad. Swathi then enrolled at St. Mary’s College in Yousufguda, Hyderabad, where she pursued her graduation in Biotechnology.
At the age of 17, after taking the EAMCET exam, she made her television debut by hosting a show named “Colours.” Thanks to a positive response, the show was extended and moved to a prime-time slot, with Swathi hosting over 150 episodes.
