Plot
Isaac John, the Managing Director of V-Tech Company, is discovered dead in the office restroom, locked from the inside. Initially assumed to be an accidental death caused by a head injury during a slip and fall, the lack of forced entry or visible confrontation supports this theory. However, ASP Sandeep’s instincts lead him to suspect foul play. Further complicating matters, John was known to suffer from COPD.
Suspicion first falls on Gibson George, John’s business partner. During questioning, Gibson reveals that John’s will specifies his brother Evan, based in the USA, as the sole heir to his business, eliminating financial gain as a motive. Meanwhile, one of the employees is found with sleeping pills in her possession. Investigating phone records and locations, Sandeep discovers that several employees were patients of Dr. Kuriakose, a neuropsychiatrist and neurosurgeon Sandeep personally knows.
Initially denying any connection to V-Tech or its staff, Dr. Kuriakose eventually discloses that Meera, one of the employees, was under his care for depression following an unexplained stillbirth. Blood tests revealed mutagens capable of DNA alteration in her system. Similar substances were detected in the blood of two other employees, who had sought treatment for headaches and insomnia. The doctor learned that the employees were coerced into bringing other sick colleagues to him and that water and snacks from the office were laced with chemicals.
John, a co-founder of V-Pharma Pharmaceuticals, was secretly using V-Tech employees as test subjects for a prototype antidote to the Human Mutagen Virus (HMV), also called the “Red Virus.” This unethical experiment aimed to create artificial demand for the antidote. The test version of the antidote, delivered via office snacks and water, left participants with irreversible health complications and emotional suffering. Monitoring was conducted covertly through a DNA-extracting office punching machine. Furious at John’s impunity due to his wealth and influence, the victims plotted revenge, withholding their plans even from Dr. Kuriakose.
CCTV footage leads Sandeep to unravel their method: the employees staged an elaborate plan to murder John. After spilling coffee on him to force him into the restroom, they ensured he was locked inside and succumbed to carbon dioxide poisoning. The sound of a vacuum cleaner muffled his cries for help. Only one employee, Rajiv, abstained from participating.
Sandeep chooses to report the death as accidental, feeling the employees’ actions were morally justified. Meanwhile, Gibson, also implicated in V-Pharma’s illegal activities, becomes the new MD of V-Tech. Sandeep, armed with evidence from Dr. Kuriakose, begins investigating V-Pharma’s lab. The story closes with Gibson occupying John’s office, now watched suspiciously by the employees.
