In 2019, the Telugu screen was graced with “Brochevarevarura,” a hilarious crime comedy penned and directed by Vivek Athreya. Translated as “Who shall save the day?”, the film boasted a stellar cast with Sree Vishnu, Nivetha Thomas, Nivetha Pethuraj, and Satyadev leading the charge, supported by Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna. Vivek Sagar’s catchy music and the sharp cinematography of Sai Sriram combined seamlessly with Ravi Teja Girijala’s crisp editing to deliver a cinematic gem.
Released on June 28th, 2019, “Brochevarevarura” garnered critical acclaim for its witty script and engaging performances. Its success even sparked two remakes: “Govinda Govinda” in Kannada (2021) and “Velle” in Hindi (2021).
Vishal, an aspiring assistant director, embarks on the challenging journey of launching his debut film. Constrained by a low budget and a crew new to the industry, he faces difficulties in reaching out to established stars. Undeterred, Vishal manages to contact actress Shalini via email, impressing her with a short film showcasing his script. Intrigued, Shalini grants him an appointment, leading to a meeting at a restaurant where Vishal passionately narrates the captivating plot.
The storyline unfolds with high school-college principal Radha Krishna and his daughter Mitra encountering the notorious ‘R3’ batch—Rahul, Rambo, and Rocky. The narrative weaves a tale of friendship, struggles, and Mitra’s dream of becoming a national-level dancer. Facing adversity, Mitra decides to escape her tumultuous home life, enlisting the help of the R3 gang in a plan to fake her kidnapping.
Vishal pauses the narration at a crucial point, promising Shalini the continuation after minor developments. As their collaboration blossoms, Shalini becomes enamored with Vishal. However, a tragic turn of events unfolds when Vishal’s father meets with an accident, and they require funds for surgery. Shalini steps in, providing the needed money, only to fall victim to a robbery orchestrated by the R3 gang.
The narrative intensifies as Vishal and Shalini grapple with personal challenges, and Mitra’s fake kidnapping takes an unexpected turn when she finds herself in real danger. The R3 gang, inadvertently involved, tries to save her, leading to a chaotic yet dramatic sequence of events.
In the hospital aftermath, with Mitra’s safety secured and Vishal’s father successfully operated on, Shalini proposes to Vishal. The stolen money is returned, prompting introspection and growth for the characters involved. As the film concludes, the R3 gang reflects on their aimless pursuits while Mitra, inspired by her experiences, pursues her passion for classical dance. Vishal begins his filmmaking journey with Shalini, closing the chapter on a tale of twists, challenges, and ultimately, self-discovery.
