Blue Star

Story:

In 2024, S. Jayakumar made his directorial debut with Blue Star, a Tamil-language sports drama film. Pa. Ranjith, under his production company Neelam Productions, co-produced the film with R. Ganesh Murthy and G. Soundarya under Lemon Leaf Creation Pvt Ltd. Ashok Selvan, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, and Keerthi Pandian play the lead roles in the movie, while Saju Navodaya makes a lengthy appearance and Prithvi Rajan, Bagavathi Perumal, Elango Kumaravel, and Lizzie Antony play minor parts. Thamizh A. Azhagan handled the film’s cinematography, Selva R. K. handled the editing, and Govind Vasantha created the music. It received favorable reviews from critics when it was published on January 25, 2024.

Based in Arakkonam and set in the 1990s, the movie centers on the conflict between two caste-based groups against the backdrop of cricket. Both team captains are subjected to discrimination and seclusion from another world of cricket, which is explored in the plot, which also tracks their journey from rivals to friends and the connection between the various teams.
