Story:

Srikanth Addala is the director of the 2021 Telugu-language Indian historical action drama film Narappa. It is a remake of Vetrimaaran’s 2019 Tamil-language film Asuran, which was based on Poomani’s novel Vekkai.

Producing the movie under their respective brands, Suresh Productions and V Creations, are D. Suresh Babu and Kalaipuli S. Thanu. In addition to Nassar, Rao Ramesh, Rajeev Kanakala, Brahmaji, Ammu Abhirami, Aadukalam Naren, and Karthik Rathnam playing significant supporting roles, the film stars Venkatesh, Priyamani, Karthik Rathnam, and Vasishta N. Simha.

The film’s soundtrack was composed by Mani Sharma, while Marthand K. Venkatesh and Shyam K. Naidu handled the editing and cinematography, respectively. The film’s principal photography began in January 2020, with locations including Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. On July 20, 2021, Narappa made its Amazon Prime Video debut.

Plot

A guy and a youngster are walking across a river carrying homemade bombs in the Anantapur district during the 1980s. A woman, a man, and a small daughter are also hiding from the police in a different area of the village.

In a flashback, the narrator identifies the father as Narappa and the youngster as Seenappa, his son. The three are Sundaramma, the wife of Narappa, her brother Basavaiah, and their daughter Bujjamma. Munikanna, their elder son, was also born to them.

They are a Ramasagaram-based farming family. While Narappa and his elder son get along well, they are aloof and even abusive toward Seenappa. Narappa hails from a farming family. Landlord Panduswamy of Vadakoor, which means “northern village,” is planning a cement factory with his youngest son Doraswamy.

They require Narappa’s three acres of property, which the family—especially Munikanna—is opposed to selling. When Rangababu, the son of Panduswamy, attacks Sundaramma one day, Munikanna retaliates by seriously hurting him and being sent in jail.

In order to uphold Panduswamy’s caste pride, Narappa begs Panduswamy to free Munikanna and requests that Narappa bow before each and every male in the landlord’s hamlet as recompense.

After being let free, Munikanna learns of this incident and, filled with wrath, uses a slipper to beat Panduswamy. In retaliation, Panduswamy gives the hunter Gampanna’s henchmen the command to murder Munikanna. Munikanna is beheaded, and his naked, lifeless body is left in the community.

After a year, Sundaramma is devastated, and Seenappa feels obligated to take revenge by killing Panduswamy. After seeing the attack, Narappa and his family depart. He begs Basavaiah to leave with Sundaramma and daughter Bujjamma, taking Seenappa with him.

The movie cuts back to the present. Doraswamy & Rangababu give Gampanna instructions to locate Narappa and Seenappa. After locating them, he nearly murders Seenappa. After defeating them all, Narappa gives them an explanation for why he saved their lives.

Twenty years prior, Narappa, a resident of a distinct village, was a renowned moonshine brewer and a dependable attendant of Shankaraiah, a wealthy caste landowner. One day, Narappa persuades Sankaraiah to hire Seenu, a young caste member who is unemployed, as a clerk.

The wealthy caste landowners who had unlawfully taken possession of the land from their impoverished farming community are being challenged by Munnappa, the brother of Narappa, and lawyer Varadarajulu. Narappa is a brewer, hence his family has a hard time finding him a wife.

Kannamma, the irritated daughter of Narappa’s eldest sister, makes a proposal to her uncle, which is accepted by the family. Seenu becomes Shankaraiah’s mill accountant as he gradually earns his trust. When his caste pride takes over, Seenu’s perspective of Narappa shifts.

At one point, Seenu offends Narappa by requesting that he lend him Rs. 1 from Sankaraiah’s funds, as was customary. Seenu prepares retaliation when Narappa beats him inside the mill and Sankaraiah steps in to calm him down. Kannamma receives a pair of sandals from Narappa in the meantime.

Sandals were regarded as a luxury item in this region and at this period, reserved for members of the upper caste. The caste system’s downtrodden members used to go barefoot. Upon observing Kannamma donning footwear, Seenu strikes her, compelling her to traverse the village while wearing the sandals on her head.

Narappa strikes him back with sandals in the midst of the village and ties him up, but Shankaraiah chastises him and shows his true colors when he says The beating that Seenu receives from Narappa is not the same as the beating that Seenu gives to Narappa’s caste girl.

Furious and humiliated, Narapppa gives up brewing and follows his brother into the movement. Before Munnappa and Narappa hold a meeting one evening, word reaches them that Adv.

Varadarajulu has been detained. Narappa is dispatched to obtain the paperwork approving the meeting. Upon his return, he finds that Munappa has been murdered by Seenu, and that all of Narappa’s relatives—including Kannamma—have been burnt alive in their homes beside Kannamma. Furious, Narappa murders Shankaraiah, Seenu, and their men with great brutality.

Following that, Narappa departs from the hamlet, and Basavaiah, who gave him farming lessons, finds him months later. Sundaramma, who isn’t receiving marriage proposals, is also introduced to him. After he finishes telling his tale, Sundaramma says she is willing to marry Narappa and says she admires what he done for his family.

With the assistance of Adv. Varadarajulu, Narappa turns himself in to the court and receives a light sentence because his crime was unplanned and occurred during a communal fight that resulted in casualties for both parties.

Following his release from prison, he weds Sundaramma. Seenappa begins to admire his father after being astounded by his past. Narappa, accompanied by his spouse and daughter, seeks assistance from Varadarajulu, who suggests that they appear in court the following day.

When Narappa and Seenappa realize at the last minute that Doraswamy and Rangababu are setting up an ambush close to the courthouse, they escape the area without giving up. Later, residents from Vadakkoor and Narappa & Basavaiah’s hamlet organize a peace conference in which Panduswamy pledges to release Seenappa and Narappa in exchange for Narappa agreeing to sell Panduswamy his land.

Reluctantly, Narappa gives up his land to keep Seenappa safe from the Panduswamy family. But in clear defiance of the agreement, Doraswamy & Rangababu kidnap and torture Seenappa.

Narappa, now enraged, murders them and numerous of their goons at this point. Both he and Seenappa suffer severe wounds. Basavaiah and their people arrive armed and diffuse the situation as Narappa and Seenappa are encircled and about to be slain.

The two communities ultimately come to an agreement that the quarrel should cease in order to avoid a potentially fatal village strife. Narappa has consented to go to jail rather than Seenappa, and his family has assembled in front of the court.

He advises his kid to work hard in school and get employment, stressing that unlike property and money, education cannot be taken advantage of by privileged caste landowners. Narappa enters the courtroom and smiles at his family as the movie comes to a close.
