Kantri

Story:

“Kantri” is a 2008 Telugu-language action film directed by Meher Ramesh, who had previously worked on Kannada films and was mentored by director Puri Jagannadh. The movie features Jr. NTR, Hansika Motwani, and Tanisha Mukherjee in leading roles, with supporting performances from Prakash Raj, Ashish Vidyarthi, Mukesh Rishi, Sayaji Shinde, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Venu Madhav, Sunil, Brahmanandam, Subbaraju, and Ali. The film was produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and C. Ashwini Dutt. Initially slated for release on April 28, 2008, it was eventually released 12 days later, on May 9, 2008. Despite receiving mixed to negative reviews, “Kantri” performed reasonably well at the box office, mainly due to Jr. NTR’s popularity.

The film is notable for being the first Indian movie to feature a 3D animated character based on an actor. The story revolves around NRI Krishna, who returns to his village with his family to contribute to its development. However, their journey takes a tragic turn when PR Pothuraju, a man known for his criminal associations, betrays them, leaving Krishna’s wife and child behind and running away with the money. Kantri, an orphan who grew up in an orphanage, joins Pothuraju’s gang to earn money. Along the way, he falls in love with Varalakshmi, although she initially dislikes him.

As Kantri rises within Pothuraju’s gang, he eventually meets Pothuraju in Hong Kong, leading to a series of events that cause a rift between them. Kantri takes a contract from Das to kill Pothuraju but learns that Pothuraju is, in fact, his father. This revelation transforms his hatred into attachment, and Pothuraju’s partner Seshu’s daughter, Priya, falls in love with Kantri. However, conflicts arise between PR and Seshu, and the story revolves around how Kantri resolves these issues and clears up the confusion.
