Adipurush, which means “First Man,” is an Indian epic mythological film released in 2023. The movie is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana, written and directed by Om Raut. T-Series and Retrophiles serve as the producers of the film. Adipurush was shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu, featuring a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh, and Devdatta Nage.
The announcement for Adipurush was made in August 2020 through an official motion poster. Principal photography began in February 2021 and concluded in November 2021, primarily in Mumbai. The film’s music is composed by the talented duo Ajay-Atul. With a budget of ₹500 crores (US$63 million), Adipurush ranks among the most expensive Indian films ever made.
On 16 June 2023, Adipurush was released in theatres and received a mixed response from critics. While the cast’s acting performances were praised, there was criticism aimed at the visual effects used in the film.
