Sunny Singh Nijjar’s father is Jai Singh Nijjar, a well-known stunt director in the film industry. Jai Singh Nijjar has worked on several films, including Chennai Express (2013) and Shivaay (2016).
Singh made his television debut in 2007 with the popular series “Kasautii Zindagii Kay,” where he portrayed the love interest of Kratika Sengar’s character. He later appeared in the 2009 series “Shakuntala” as Karan.
His film career began in 2011 with a small role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s comedy film “Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji.” He had his first significant role as an abusive husband named Ravi in Luv Ranjan’s romantic drama “Akaash Vani” alongside Kartik Aaryan and Nushrat Bharucha. Although the film performed poorly commercially, it marked his first major role.
Singh reunited with Aaryan, Bharucha, and Ranjan for the sequel “Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2,” which emerged as his first commercial success, grossing ₹88 crores worldwide. In 2018, he had his highest-grossing release with the comedy “Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety,” again teaming up with the same trio.
He made a cameo appearance in Akiv Ali’s romantic comedy “De De Pyaar De”. Also, he starred in Smeep Kang’s comedy film “Jhootha Kahin Ka” alongside Omkar Kapoor and Jimmy Sheirgill.
Singh’s first lead role came in the film “Ujda Chaman,” directed by Abhishek Pathak, where he played a character dealing with baldness. The film received moderate success at the box office.
In his latest release, “Jai Mummy Di,” a romantic comedy, he starred alongside Sonnalli Seygall, Supriya Pathak, and Poonam Dhillon. The film, directed by Navjot Gulati and produced by Luv Ranjan, received a poor response.
It was announced in February 2021 that Singh would portray the character of Lakshmana in the upcoming film “Adipurush,” based on the epic Ramayana.
He is also set to star in “Luv Ki Arrange Marriage” opposite Avneet Kaur.
