Indian cinematographer and director Venugopal (born 26 January 1957), sometimes known as Venu, specializes in Malayalam movies. a CMS college Kottayam and Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, graduate. With a diploma in motion picture photography, Venu left the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, in 1982. Over 80 feature films with Mani Kaul, K G George, John Abraham, Pamela Rooks, Padmarajan, Bharathan, and M. T. Vasudevan Nair included him as a cinematographer.
In 1987, Amma Ariyan and Namukku Parkkan Munthiri Thoppukal shared the National Film Award that Venu won. He then won two additional prizes for his roles in Ponthan Mada (1994) and Miss Beatty’s Children (1993). He made his directing debut in 1998 with M. T. Vasudevan Nair’s historical fiction Daya. Both the Indira Gandhi Award and the Kerala State Film Award for Best Debut Director went to the movie.
