Unnikrishnan is a renowned Indian playback singer known for his melodious voice. Born on July 9, 1966, in Palakkad, Kerala, his love for music blossomed early in life. He trained in Carnatic music under eminent gurus like V.L. Seshadri and later under Calcutta K.S. Krishnamurthy.
Unnikrishnan stepped into playback singing in the Tamil film industry and gained fame with his debut song “Ennavale” from the movie “Kadhalan” in 1994. His versatile voice and ability to convey emotions through his songs brought him widespread recognition.
His talent expanded beyond Tamil cinema, and he ventured into singing in various languages including Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Unnikrishnan’s renditions in classical and devotional genres have garnered him immense praise and accolades.
In 2012, Unnikrishnan sang a bunch of devotional songs honoring different gods like Lord Ganesha, Lord Ayyappan, Lord Venkateswara, and Goddess Devi. These albums were made by Gaananjali Recordings and put together by Manachanallur Giridharan. The albums had titles like “Ayyan Malai Engal Malai,” “Om Nava Sakthi Jaya Jaya Sakthi,” “Sabarimalai Va Charanam Solli Va,” “Vindhaigal Purindhai Nee En Vazhvile,” “jeans,” and “Uchi Pillaiyare Charanam.”
