Indian Telugu actress, producer, and playback singer Chittajallu Krishnaveni (born December 24, 1924) is also known as C. Krishnaveni or just Krishnaveni.
Krishnaveni is from Pangidi in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
She started out as a dramatist before going into the movie business. She made her feature début as a young artist in the 1936 film Anasuya. Krishna Rao, her father, was a physician.
In 1939, she relocated to Chennai after receiving multiple offers to feature in Telugu movies. She has performed in films in different languages, including Tamil. In 1939, she wed Mirzapuram Sultan. She started working as a producer and filmmaker at her husband’s Chennai Sobhanachala Studios.
She is well known for being the producer of the Telugu film Mana Desam (1949), which introduced a number of iconic movie stars. Among them were playback singer P Leela, music director Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao, and actor N T Rama Rao. The Bengali novel Vipradas served as the basis for Mana Desam.
