Rajesh Sharma is an Indian actor known for his roles in both Hindi and Bengali cinema. He was born in Ludhiana, India, and initially pursued his acting career in Kolkata. In Kolkata, he began his acting journey as a member of a theater group called ‘Rangakarmi.’ Rajesh Sharma is an alumnus of the National School of Drama in New Delhi, where he completed his studies and graduated in 1980. His personal life includes a marriage and divorce with Sudipta Chakraborty, a Bengali actress, and a subsequent marriage to Sangeeta Sharma in 2011.
Rajesh Sharma made his debut in Bollywood with the 1996 Hindi film “Maachis.” Following this, he started working in Bengali films in the early 2000s. In “Maachis,” he shared the screen with actors such as Chandrachur Singh, Jimmy Shergill, Raj Zutshi, Tabu, and Om Puri. In 2000, he made a return to Bengali cinema with the film “Paromitar Ek Din,” which was written and directed by Aparna Sen. After appearing in several Bengali films, he returned to Bollywood in 2005 with the movie “Parineeta,” which marked Vidya Balan’s debut in Hindi cinema, where she acted opposite Saif Ali Khan.
