Patrick Stewart

Biography:

English actor Sir Patrick Stewart was born on July 13, 1940. Over the course of his more than 60-year career on stage and television, he has won two Olivier Awards and a Grammy Award in addition to being nominated for a Tony Award, three Golden Globes, four Emmys, and three television Actors Guild Awards. In 2010, Queen Elizabeth II knighted him for his contributions to theater.

Stewart joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1966. In 1971, he debuted on Broadway in a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. His portrayal of Antony and Cleopatra in the West End earned him the 1979 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. on 1967, he made his television debut on Coronation Street. Fall of Eagles (1974), I, Claudius (1976), and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (1979) were his first significant film appearances. He played King Claudius again in Hamlet in 2008 and was nominated for his first Tony Award and second Olivier Award for the Broadway and West End performances, respectively.
