Manoj Pahwa

Biography:

Manoj Pahwa, an Indian actor known for his work in both film and television, rose to prominence for his role as Bhatia in the comedy series Office Office (2001). He entered the world of cinema with Tere Mere Sapne (1996). With a repertoire of over 70 films, including memorable performances in 7½ Phere (2005), Being Cyrus (2005), Singh Is Kinng (2008), and Article 15 (2019), Pahwa has proven himself to be a versatile character actor. Renowned for his flawless comic timing and nuanced performances, he avoids relying on stereotypical “fat joke” humor.

In the anthology horror film Darna Zaroori Hai (2006) directed by Sajid Khan, Pahwa took on a leading role in the opening segment. His entry into Punjabi cinema began with Heer & Hero, a result of his encounter with local producers during the filming of Mausam (2011) directed by Pankaj Kapoor in Chandigarh.

Born on 8 December 1963, Pahwa grew up in a Punjabi family in New Delhi. His father migrated from West Punjab (now part of Pakistan) to India after Partition. He received his education at the National Public School in Daryaganj, New Delhi. Initially, his father wanted him to join the family business of automobile batteries, but Pahwa moved to Mumbai in his late 20s to pursue acting. He is married to actress Seema Bhargava, his co-actor in the TV series Hum Log, and resides in Versova, Mumbai, with his daughter Manukriti Pahwa and son Mayank.
