His breakthrough came with the movie “Aashiqui” (1990), earning him his initial Filmfare Award.
Sanu’s collaboration with Kalyanji-Anandji and his tribute to Kishore Kumar inspired the change in his name to Kumar Sanu. He continued to deliver chart-topping songs in movies like “Saajan,” “Deewana,” “Baazigar,” and “1942: A Love Story,” earning consecutive Filmfare Awards.
