Kelsey Grammer

Biography:

American comedian and actor Allen Kelsey Gramr was born on February 21, 1955. His portrayal of Harvard-educated Boston psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane on the NBC sitcom Cheers (1984–1993) and its spin-off Frasier (1993–2004, and again from 2023–2024) brought him notoriety. This is one of the longest-running roles performed by a single live-action performer in primetime television history, having been on the air for more than 20 years. Six Emmy Awards, three Golden Globes, two Satellite Awards, two People’s Choice Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Tony Award are just a few of the many honors he has garnered.

Gramr made his stage debut as Lennox in the 1981 Broadway production of Macbeth after training as an actor at Juilliard and the Old Globe Theater. He played Cassio in Othello the next year, costarring with James Earl Jones and Christopher Plummer. He performed with Mandy Patinkin in the first off-Broadway run of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George in the middle of 1983. Since then, he has played the main parts in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, My Fair Lady, Big Fish, and Finding Neverland.

In the superhero movies X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), and The Marvels (2023), he played Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast. Swing Vote (2008), The Pentagon Wars (1998), and Down Periscope (1996) are some of his other roles. In addition, he is well-known for his voice acting in Toy Story 2 (1999), Anastasia (1997), and The Simpsons (1990–present) as Sideshow Bob. He appeared in cameos in the comedies Modern Family (2017), Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2016), and 30 Rock (2010–2012). He won the Golden Globe for Best Actor – Television Series Drama for his role as the dishonest mayor in the Starz political series Boss (2011–2012).
