Indian actress Himani Bhatt Shivpuri is well-known for her character parts in Hindi soap operas and movies. Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994), Raja (1995), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Khamoshi (1996), Hero No. 1 (1997), Deewana Mastana (1997), Bandhan (1998), and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) are among the movies for which she is most well-known. In addition, she starred in a number of other movies, such as Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon (2003), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… (2001), Biwi No. 1 (1999), and Hum Saath-Saath Hain (1999). She is currently employed with &Tv’s Happu Ki Ultan Paltan as Katori “Katto” Amma.
Shivpuri was born into a Garhwali Brahmin family in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Her mother Shail Bhatt is a homemaker, while her father Haridutt Bhatt Shailesh was a Hindi teacher. Himanshu Bhatt is Himani’s brother. Her father, Shailesh, was a poet and a Hindi teacher at The Doon School, an all-boys boarding school, where she received her education.
She participated actively in dramatics at Doon. While pursuing a masters degree in Organic Chemistry at DAV College Dehradun, India, she started a side career in theater. She later enrolled in the National School of Drama in 1982 to further her acting career. She was a supporting actress in Phir Wahi Talash. She wed actor Gyan Shivpuri, a Kashmiri Pandit who passed away in 1995. Her son is named Katyayan.
