Born January 18, 1969, David Michael Bautista Jr. is a retired professional wrestler and actor from the United States. Known as one of the most successful professional wrestlers of his generation, he gained notoriety for his several WWE stints from 2002 to 2019.
Bautista signed with WWE (formerly WWF) in 2000 after starting his wrestling career in 1999. He first became well-known as a member of Evolution before becoming famous as the ring name Batista from 2002 to 2010. He would go on to win the World Heavyweight Championship four times (his first reign was the longest in history, lasting 282 days), the WWE Championship twice, the World Tag Team Championship three times (once with John Cena and twice with Ric Flair), and the WWE Tag Team Championship once (with Rey Mysterio).
Additionally, he dominated WrestleMania 21 and WrestleMania XXX, the former of which was one of the top five highest-grossing pay-per-view events in wrestling history, after winning the Royal Rumble bouts in 2005 and 2014. He retired following WrestleMania 35 in 2019, having mostly withdrawn from professional wrestling in 2020.
Bautista is a well-known actor who portrayed Rabban in Dune (2021) and its 2024 sequel, as well as Drax in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (2014–2023). Spectre (2015), Blade Runner 2049 (2017), Final Score, Master Z: Ip Man Legacy (2018), Army of the Dead (2021), Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022), Knock at the Cabin, and Parachute (2023) are among the other films in which Bautista has starred.
