Celia Freijeiro García, a Spanish actress and producer, was born on February 9, 1983. Her father, Rafael Freijeiro, is a Galician painter, and she was born into an artistic family in Vigo, Galicia. She relocated to Madrid to start her training and career as an actor after graduating from DeWitt High School in Arkansas, USA.
Paloma Pedrero’s play El colour de agosto, which she both produced and starred in, was her breakthrough into professional theatre. She was nominated for the Mayte Award and the Valle Inclán Theatre Awards, two of Spain’s most prestigious theatre honours, for her performance in this work. She has since taken part in a number of films, TV shows, and theatrical productions.
She joined the Sociedad Cervantina’s board in 2010 (Calle Atocha 87, Madrid), and in 2017 she was appointed vice-president. Social media allowed us to find out in February 2017 that construction was starting on her own theatre, the Cervantes Chamber Theatre, which is housed in the Cervantina Society and will open in 2019.
