Biography:

Anuradha, originally known as Sulochana Devi, is an accomplished Indian actress recognized for her work in both film and television. Her active years in the entertainment industry primarily spanned the 1980s and 1990s, during which she made a name for herself with her vibrant performances in item numbers. Anuradha’s versatility is evident in her extensive filmography, featuring roles in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, and Oriya-language films.

Her journey into the film world began at the age of 13 when she was discovered by director K. G. George. What set her apart at that early age was her remarkable height, leading George to bestow upon her the name “Anuradha.” Despite being notably taller than most of her co-actors and heroes, Anuradha transitioned from being a lead actress to taking on item number roles. Notably, she featured in over 700 films, a remarkable achievement, often performing her own action sequences, thanks to her training in martial arts. Additionally, she was known for her prowess as a motorcycle rider, handling motorcycles like Java and Enfield bullet. Her career extended beyond the big screen, as she also made appearances in several Sun TV serials, including “Thangam,” “Kannana kanne,” “Mutharam,” and “Deivamagal.”

In her personal life, Anuradha was born to Krishna Kumar, a choreographer, and Saroja Devi, a hairdresser for actresses in films. Her cultural background was a blend of Marathi, from her father, and Andhra Pradesh, from her mother. In 1987, she tied the knot with Sathish Kumar, a dance director, and the couple had two children, Abhinayashree (born in 1988) and Kalicharan (born in 1991), both of whom ventured into acting. Tragically, in 1996, Kumar suffered a severe motorcycle accident that caused significant brain damage, ultimately leading to his passing in 2007 due to a heart attack.
