Indian actress Shanta Meena, also known by her stage name Aishwariyaa Bhaskaran, has appeared in films in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu, as well as numerous Malayalam and Tamil television soap operas. She is the actress Lakshmi’s daughter.
Oliyampukal (1991), Mamagaru (1991), Rasukutty (1992), and Meera (1992) were Aishwariyaa’s debut films. In Butterflies (1993) and Gardish (1993), an adaptation of the Malayalam film Kireedam, she had dual roles. She declined the chance to collaborate with Mani Ratnam on Thiruda Thiruda (1993) early in her career.
Aishwariyaa left the film business after getting married in 1994 and decided to put raising a family first. Nevertheless, her marriage failed and she developed a drug addiction as a result of her husband’s drug use, which made it challenging for her to return to the movie business after her divorce in 1996.
She underwent a rehabilitation process before deciding to pursue her degree in computer science. She attended the NIIT in 1997 and made software engineering her top priority. Then, after being persuaded by her friend, actress Revathi, she agreed to take a role in a television program created by Suresh Chandra Menon. Aishwariyaa made a comeback in R. Parthiban’s Housefull (1999), playing an inspector in command of the bomb disposal unit, following a four-year hiatus from acting due to her marriage, childbirth, and divorce. Around the turn of the century, she continued to play supporting roles in movies like Suyamvaram (1999), Sathyameva Jayathe (2000), and Narasimham (2000).
