Biography:

Screenwriter, actor, director, and producer Sreenivasan is well-known in Malayalam cinema for his sarcastic black comedies. His scripts for T.P. Balagopalan M.A., Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam, Gandhinagar 2nd Street, Nadodikkattu, Mukunthetta Sumitra Vilikkunnu, Varavelppu, Thalayanamanthram, Sandesham, Midhunam, Azhakiya Ravanan, and Udayananu Tharam are among the most well-known. He produced and wrote the scripts for the films Vadakkunokkiyantram and Chinthavishtaya Shyamala.

In the 1970s, Sreenivasan started his acting career. In 1977, he made his stage debut in Manimuzhakkam. He later performed in the movie Mela. The actor gained notoriety among viewers by taking on roles in various films that were primarily comedic. Sreenivasan is not only a popular actor but also a writer and director in the Malayalam film industry.In 1984, he made his screenwriting debut with the film Odaruthammava Aalariyam.

Later he wrote the screenplay for films such as Odaruthammava Aalariyam, Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam, Gandhinagar 2nd Street, Nadodikkattu, Pattanapravesham, Varavelpu, Thalayanamanthram, Sandesam, Midhunam, Mazhayethum Munpe, Azhakiya Ravanan, Ayal Kadha Ezhuthukayanu, Udayananu Tharam, Katha Parayumpol, and Njan Prakashan among others.

His films frequently feature topics that affect the average person, such as unemployment, poverty, corruption, and political ideas. As a writer, Sreenivasan usually draws inspiration for his writings from his surroundings and attempts to incorporate fresh ideas. That is one of the factors contributing to his career’s success in the film industry.

One of the best political satires in Indian cinema is his movie Sandesham. He gained support from the public and praise from critics after penning the screenplay for the film Sandesham. And in that same year, he also took home the Kerala State Film Award for Best Screenplay for Sandesham. In 1989, he made his debut as a filmmaker with the movie Vadakkunokkiyanthram. The movie was a success, starring Sreenivasan and Parvathy in the key parts. The movie took home the best film prize at the Kerala State Film Awards.

In 1998, he went on to direct the movie Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala. The movie was well received by critics and one of Malayalam’s highest grossing movies as a result. For Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala, he received the Kerala State Award for Best Popular Film and the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues.

In his long acting career, Srinivasan has appeared in almost 200 films. In the films Mera Naam Shaji, Kuttimama, and Love, Action, Drama, Uriyadi, he last made an appearance. A production company called Lumiere Film Company was established by actors Sreenivasa and Mukeshre. Both Katha Parayumpol (2007) and Thattathin Marayathu (2012), which they co-produced, were big movie office successes.

Additionally, Sreenivasan will appear in the upcoming Indian film Chandramukhi 2 (2023). Sreenivasan, a well-known actor, made his acting debut in the 1977 film Manimuzhakkam. He is primarily recognised for playing comedic roles. His debut as a writer was for the 1984 film Odaruthammava Aalariyam.
