Biography:

Indian film director, screenwriter, and actor Selvaraghavan has primarily directed and acted in Tamil films. Selvaraghavan made his directorial debut with Thulluvadho Ilamai (2002), in which his brother Dhanush K. Raja stars. However, his father is given credit for commercial reasons.

After that, he directed a string of romantic drama films, including Kadhal Kondein (2003), which also starred Dhanush, and 7G Rainbow Colony (2004). He then ventured into coming-of-age films, with Dhanush appearing in both Pudhupettai (2006) and Mayakkam Enna (2011).

In Aayirathil Oruvan (2010) and Irandam Ulagam (2013), he portrayed a parallel world and a fantasy Chola kingdom, respectively. He has also dabbled in science fiction and fantasy filmmaking. His directorial abilities have garnered high praise. He debuted as an actor in the 2022 motion picture Beast.

Film director Kasthuri Raja and Vijayalakshmi gave birth to Selvaraghavan. He has two sisters who are both physicians and an actor brother named Dhanush He had retinal cancer when he was young, and one of his eyes was removed.

He wed the actress Sonia Agarwal on December 15, 2006; the two had previously collaborated on three movies. On August 9, 2009, Sonia Agarwal and Selvaraghavan filed for divorce with permission in a Chennai family court following two years of marriage.

On June 19, 2011, Selvaraghavan wed Gitanjali Raman, the daughter of P. S. Raman, the former advocate general of Tamil Nadu. In Mayakkam Enna, Gitanjali had served as his associate director. The couple’s son, Omkar, was born on October 7, 2013, and their daughter, Leelavathi, was born on January 20, 2012. On January 7, 2021, the couple gave birth to their third child, a boy they named Rishikesh.
