Mayakkam Enna

Story:

Mayakkam Enna, which translates to “What is this illusion?” is a 2011 psychological drama film in the Tamil language that was written and directed by Selvaraghavan. It was produced by Gemini Film Circuit under the auspices of Aum Productions. It stars his brother Dhanush and newcomer Richa Gangopadhyay.

G. V. Prakash Kumar composed the soundtrack, and Ramji handled the cinematography. The film centers on the difficulties an ambitious photographer encounters, which lead to his despair. The remaining portion of the story is how he goes about accomplishing his objectives.

Gemini Film Circuit produced and distributed the movie, which debuted on November 25, 2011, to positive reviews from critics but did not do particularly well at the box office.

Plot

The introverted Karthik Swaminathan, nicknamed “Genius” by his friends, works as a freelance photographer and hopes to follow in Madhesh Krishnasamy’s footsteps by specializing in wildlife photography. With their parents’ deaths, he and his sister are supported by their friends Sunder Ramesh, Shankar, Padmini, and Vindhya.

Karthik and his pals are introduced to Yamini as Sunder’s girlfriend one day. Though they have a tense first encounter, Karthik and Yamini gradually grow close. In an attempt to save his friend’s feelings, Karthik attempts to avoid Yamini; nonetheless, a series of circumstances forces them to interact. In the end, Yamini and Karthik’s marriage is arranged by Sunder’s father.

Following their nuptials, Karthik finds out that Madhesh won a national award using a picture he took. Following this episode, he develops into a physically violent alcoholic, his mental health starts to deteriorate, and people begin to question his sanity. Yamini believes in him and wishes him luck in the future.

When Karthik’s housemates humiliate him in front of Yamini a few days later, she becomes irate and defensive and stands by her husband. Karthik starts smashing the TV after seeing Madhesh receive an award for his picture, and in a fit of rage, he unintentionally pushes Yamini.

Yamini ends up miscarrying as a result. After leaving the hospital a few days later, Yamini never speaks to Karthik again. Karthik adjusts his habits and comes to terms with reality as a result. At last, he catches a break and turns into a professional wildlife photographer.

He even wins an International Photography Award after one of his shots is nominated. Karthik expresses his love for Yamini and thanks everyone for their support on this special day. He also praises Yamini for her belief in him. At last, Yamini gives in and converses with Karthik. As the movie comes to a conclusion, Karthik then thanks Madhesh.
