Indian cinematographer R. Rathnavelu primarily shoots Tamil and Telugu films. Sethu, Nandha, Vaaranam Aayiram, Enthiran, 1: Nenokkadine, Rangasthalam, and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy are just a few of the films that received praise for his work. In recognition of his achievements, he has received three Filmfare Awards South, two SIIMA Awards, the Tamil Nadu State Film Award, the Vijay Awards, and the Kalaimamani Award from the state of Tamil Nadu.
Rathnavelu obtained a three-year Diploma in Film Technology in cinematography at the M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute before earning a Bachelor of Science in Physics. Later, he helped Rajiv Menon, the director of photography for Mani Ratnam’s Bombay.
