Biography:

Napoleon, whose real name is Kumaresan Duraisamy, is a multifaceted Indian figure known for his roles as an actor, politician, and entrepreneur. He was born on December 2, 1963, and has worked in various film industries including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and English. Napoleon initially entered the film industry as an antagonist in Bharathiraja’s “Pudhu Nellu Pudhu Naathu” in 1991, and he gained recognition for his versatile acting skills. His notable performances include films like “Devasuram” and “Seevalaperi Pandi.”

In the political arena, Napoleon was associated with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party, influenced by the ideologies of his uncle, K.N. Nehru, who was a prominent member of the party. He served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly in Tamil Nadu after winning the Villivakkam constituency in the 2001 State Assembly elections. Later, he represented the Perambalur constituency and secured a position in the Lok Sabha during the 2009 general elections, subsequently becoming the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment in the Indian government.

Besides his entertainment and political career, Napoleon ventured into entrepreneurship by founding “Jeevan Technologies,” an IT company in Chennai. Additionally, he established the Myopathy Unit of Jeevan Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on muscular dystrophy research. Napoleon’s contributions to the film industry, politics, and social entrepreneurship have earned him several awards and accolades, including the Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize and the Kalaimamani and MGR Award.
