Kashyap’s journey in cinema began with significant milestones, such as co-writing for Ram Gopal Varma’s crime drama Satya (1998) and his directorial debut Paanch, which faced censorship challenges and did not release theatrically. Subsequently, he gained acclaim for directing Black Friday (2004), based on Hussain Zaidi’s book about the 1993 Bombay bombings. Despite initial delays, the film garnered widespread critical acclaim upon its release in 2007. Kashyap’s career includes diverse works like the modern adaptation Dev.D (2009), the socio-political drama Gulaal (2009), and the thriller That Girl in Yellow Boots (2011).
