Ananya Nagalla

Biography:

Nagalla was born to Venkateswara Rao and Vishnu Priya in the Telugu community of Sathupalli in the Khammam district of Telangana (then in Andhra Pradesh). Her family relocated to Hyderabad for her studies; her father is a businessman. Before deciding to pursue a career in the film industry, she completed her B. Tech at the Raja Mahendra College of Engineering in Ibrahimpatnam and worked for Infosys.

Film career:
Nagalla acted in the short film Shaadi while she was working and was nominated for Best Actress at the SIIMA Short Film Awards. Following her audition, she was chosen to star in the 2019 biographical film Mallesham, which also stars Priyadarshi. In the movie, she was given the name Anusha Nagalla, which was her given name. Nagalla took some time away from her job to get ready for the part. Murali Krishna CH, a critic for The Indian Express, praised her in his review of the movie and said, “Ananya Nagalla shines in the character of Mallesham’s wife Padma. Her performance reflects her inherent purity. The News Minute’s critic said: “Ananya is endearing and has been given a lot of scope to emote.”Sangeetha Devi Dundoo of The Hindu shared the same sentiment in her article, saying: “Ananya brings in the purity essential for her part and innocence.

Nagalla had an appearance in the sci-fi drama movie Play Back in 2021. Nagalla, in the opinion of a Zed Cinemalu reviewer, stood out among the actors. They said, “Ananya was okay, but none of the other actors could do credit to their characters. She also made an appearance in the Hindi film Pink adaptation of Vakeel Saab, starring Pawan Kalyan, that same year. She was chosen for the role in the movie by director Venu Sriram after she played Mallesham.In her review for The Hindu, Sangeetha Devi appreciated her performance and said of the women, “Nivetha, Anjali, and Ananya, they are wonderful. Particularly Nivetha and Ananya skilfully internalise and communicate the complex emotions of bravery, fear, and sorrow.
