Sarzameen

Story:

In 2025, Kayoze Irani made his directorial debut with the Hindi-language action thriller Sarzameen  Starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kajol, and Ibrahim Ali Khan, the movie is produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, and Apoorva Mehta under Dharma Productions in association with Star Studios. The movie, which is set in Kashmir, centers on an Indian Army commander who learns that his estranged son has joined a militant organization.

Critics gave Sarzameen a bad rating when it was released on the streaming service JioHotstar on July 25, 2025. Before being relaunched as Star Studio18 in August 2025, this was the final movie to be released under the Star Studios banner.

Plot

Mohsin and his brothers Aabil and Qaabil are captured by Colonel Vijay Menon, a distinguished Indian Army commander stationed in Jammu & Kashmir. His young son Harman is abducted by the terrorists as payback, and they demand that their men be freed. Vijay refuses to jeopardize national security in spite of his wife Meher’s entreaties. He puts Aabil to death and states that national security comes above personal relationships.

A now-adult Harman is one of the hostages the Army finds during a rescue mission in a terrorist camp. Vijay worries that his kid may have been indoctrinated or replaced, but Meher greets him with delight when he returns. The fact that Harman is their biological son is verified by a DNA test.

Harman has become extremely politicized due to Qaabil’s influence throughout his years in jail. His adherence to radical beliefs conflicts with his family’s efforts to get back together. Meher makes an effort to mend emotional bonds, but Vijay stays cautious since he knows that Harman could be dangerous. Harman confronts his father while armed as a result of the rising mistrust. Meher is unintentionally shot and hurt during the mayhem. Confusion and guilt overwhelm Harman, who runs away.

Harman unintentionally becomes involved in Qaabil’s plot to carry out a huge attack at a dam inauguration. Meher’s identity as an undercover Pakistani intelligence agent is exposed, which is a significant revelation. After capturing Qaabil, Meher retrieves the bomb deactivation code and transmits it to Vijay. She gives her life for the mission despite suffering severe injuries in the process.

In order to disarm the explosives in time, Vijay and Harman collaborate. Harman puts his life in danger to stop another assailant as a last gesture of atonement. Meher dies from her wounds even after the onslaught is stopped. As the movie comes to a close, Meher’s legacy of devotion and treachery unites Vijay and Harman in their grief over her sacrifice.
