TheatreReleased in 2011, “Maaro” is an Indian Telugu-language action comedy film directed by Siddique, featuring Nithiin and Meera Chopra in prominent roles. Originally filmed in 2005, the production faced a hiatus in 2006 before finally hitting the screens in 2011, strategically capitalizing on director Siddique’s recent success with “Bodyguard.”
The film’s musical composition is credited to Mani Sharma. Notably, “Maaro” was later remade in Tamil as “Sadhu Miranda,” released three years prior to its Telugu counterpart.
Loosely inspired by Siddique’s 1995 Malayalam film “Mannar Mathai Speaking” and drawing influence from the 1958 movie “Vertigo,” the storyline revolves around a heist at DID Bank in the city. This unfortunate event leads to the tragic demise of a girl and prompts the bank manager to take his own life.
The central figures in this elaborate robbery scheme are Ram Mohan (Abbas) and the former Minister Venkatratnam (Kota Srinivasa Rao). Sundaram (Nithiin), a member of the affected family, encounters Priya in the course of his mission to expose Ram Mohan as the orchestrator of the crime.
The narrative unfolds with Sundaram grappling with the repercussions while diligently working to establish Ram Mohan’s culpability.
“Maaro” serves as a testament to Siddique’s directorial prowess and was strategically released to leverage the director’s recent successes. The film’s unique blend of action and comedy, coupled with the stellar performances of the lead cast, contributes to its appeal.
The dynamic storyline, with roots in Siddique’s earlier works, adds a layer of complexity and intrigue to the overall cinematic experience.
