TheatreKrishna Babu is a 1999 Telugu-language drama film from India that was directed by Muthyala Subbaiah and produced by Chanti Addala under the Srinivasa Productions label. With music composed by Koti, it stars Nandamuri Balakrishna, Meena, and Raasi. It was Balakrishna’s 75th movie in which he acted.
The movie opens in the village of Krishnapuram, where the local arbitrator, Krishna Babu, has the authority to make ordinances. He lives with his maternal uncle Chandraiah and has a soft spot for Rama, the village headmaster’s daughter. Krishna’s cruel step-maternal uncle Sarvarayudu is keeping a family grudge as he restricts his transgressions. Vijay, Krishna’s sibling, is a city student who develops feelings for Shilpa, his coworker. In the meanwhile, Rama and Krishna tie the knot when Rama’s jailor uncle claims Krishna is a murder. Now, as Krishna Babu turns around, his father—the village’s zamindar—maintains an extramarital affair with a cunning woman in his home. Additionally, they have a child named Vijay, who Krishna Babu regards as his own.
Subsequently, Vijay becomes an orphan as Krishna gives Chandraiah responsibility for his sister’s murder by Sarvarayudu. He returns to his village after a 14-year absence in order to win the village’s support and assume the role of the benevolent leader. Everyone submits to his righteousness realising this, and the engagement is successful. In any case, after an infuriated Sarvarayudu kidnaps Rama, Krishna unintentionally murders Rama during the fight. He is currently serving a seven-year sentence behind prison. Krishna chooses to send Vijay to pursue further education overseas. He breaks up with Shilpa after explaining his current situation to her before leaving.
At this time, Krishna—who is Shilpa’s father—often encounters her ex-warden. After some time has passed, Krishna is found on his deathbed by his former guardian, who gives him Shilpa’s duty and declares him innocent. As a result, Shilpa goes to the village with Krishna. Shilpa comforts and restores Krishna with a grin by assisting him in regaining his prior serenity because he is psychologically tormented by the pain of difficulties. But when they agree to knit at Chandraiah’s request, the town begins to doubt their love. When Vijay sees Shilpa as the bride, he is startled and becomes quiet. Vijay’s friends show up at the wedding in parallel and tell Krishna the truth.
