Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer

Story:

The upcoming Indian Malayalam-language historical fantasy thriller Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer is written by R. Ramanand and directed and edited by Rojin Thomas. The narrative follows the life of Kadamattathu Kathanar, a fabled Christian priest with magical abilities from the ninth century. Prabhu Deva, Anushka Shetty (making her Malayalam debut), and Jayasurya play the title roles in the movie. Gokulam Gopalan of Sree Gokulam Movies produced it.

The movie’s scope is evident in the recently released trailer, which is just over three minutes long. It starts at the famous Kanthalloor Saala and gradually transitions into a more moody and gloomy realm in old Venad. A story that combines legend and spectacle is built up when Kathanar appears as the land’s defender against a supernatural peril. Anushka Shetty, who is making her Malayalam debut, gives the project more weight. In stark contrast to Kathanar’s spiritual fortitude, she portrays Kalliyankattu Neeli, a Yakshi whose eerie presence adds mystery and suspense to the narrative.

Under the Sree Gokulam Movies banner, the film is supported by producer Gokulam Gopalan and is produced on a scale that is uncommon in Malayalam cinema. Prabhu Deva, Sanoop Santhosh, Sandy, Devika Sanjay, Harish Uthaman, Vineeth, Nitish Bharadwaj, Srikanth Murali, and Kulprit Yadav are among the supporting cast. Rojin Thomas and R. Ramanand co-wrote the screenplay, while Rahul Subrahmanian wrote the music and Neil D’Cunha handled the cinematography. In an effort to achieve a visual standard comparable to foreign films, the film heavily relies on virtual production and visual effects. Rajeevan’s production design gives the world more nuance and realism. According to its scope, Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer will be dubbed in fifteen languages, including Malayalam, English, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Chinese, French, Korean, Italian, Russian, Indonesian, Japanese, and German. It is scheduled for a widespread monsoon release. Kathanar is developing into one of the most intriguing Malayalam films of recent years because to its blend of folklore, scale, and technological ambition.
