Jayasurya, born on August 31, 1978, is a versatile Indian actor known for his work in Malayalam cinema. Alongside acting, he’s also ventured into distribution, sponsorship, modeling, film production, playback singing, and impressionism. With a career spanning over 100 films, Jayasurya has earned numerous awards, including a National Film Award and multiple Kerala State Film Awards and Filmfare Awards South.
Starting as a mimicry artist and television show host, Jayasurya made his acting debut in 1999 with a background role in “Pathram.” His breakthrough came with his portrayal of a mute character in “Oomappenninu Uriyadappayyan” (2002). Throughout the 2000s, he gained popularity for his comic and villainous roles in films like “Swapnakkoodu” (2003), “Classmates” (2006), and “Gulumaal” (2009).
In the 2010s, Jayasurya received critical acclaim for diverse roles in films such as “Cocktail” (2010), “Beautiful” (2011), “Apothecary” (2014), and “Captain” (2018). He’s also known for his comedic performances in movies like “Punyalan Agarbattis” (2013), “Amar Akbar Anthony” (2015), and “Aadu” (2017).
Jayasurya made his debut as a film producer with “Punyalan Agarbattis” and has also showcased his singing talent in several films.
In his personal life, Jayasurya was born in Tripunithura, Kochi, Kerala, to Mani and Thankam. He attended St. George U. P. School and Government Sanskrit High School for his schooling and pursued a Bachelor of Commerce degree at All Saints College, Ernakulam. Outside of studies, he honed his skills in mimicry with troupes like Crown of Cochin and Kottayam Nazeer’s Cochin Discovery.
