TheatreBejawada, also known as Bezawada, is a 2011 Telugu-language action crime film from India, produced by Ram Gopal Varma and Renny Johnson, and directed by Vivek Krishna. It is based on the Vijayawada Gang Warfare. Amala Paul and Naga Chaitanya are the film’s stars. Due to its accurate depiction of the historical gang war in Vijayawada, the film received positive reviews from television and over-the-top platforms but negative reviews from theaters. Subsequently, it received Tamil Vikram Dhadha and Hindi Hero: The Action Man (2013) dubbings.
Amala made her Telugu language debut. In a September 2010 press release, Ram Gopal Varma revealed that he was directing a Telugu movie called Bejawada Rowdilu, which was based on the wild battles of Vijayawada, popularly known as Bejawada. Residents of Vijayawada felt that the title unfairly disparaged their city, so in August 2011, Varma declared that the movie would now just be called Bejawada. On May 12, 2011, the film’s official release was announced, with Vivek Krishna, Ram Gopal Varma’s protégé, serving as the director.
Preetika Rao was part of the team for a photo shoot and two days of filming in Vijayawada, but the producer cut her from the project because she appeared older than Naga Chaitanya, the main actor. She was then accused of Amala Paul.
Plot
In Bejawada, Kali Prasad, also known as Kali (Prabhu), is the man of the people. The temple city serves as a stronghold for his group. Vijay Krishna, also known as Mukul Dev, is Kali’s right hand. Shankar Prasad, also known as Shankar (Abhimanyu Singh), is Kali’s brother and does not agree with Vijay Krishna’s dominance.
Because of this personal grievance, Shankar kills his brother Kali brutally as a spoil sport and then goes around Bejawada spreading the word that Vijay Krishna is the real murderer. Shankar attempts to enter politics with the aid of politician Ramana (Kota Srinivasa Rao), but is unsuccessful because of Vijay Krishna’s influence over labor and student unions.
Jaya Krishna (Ajay) and Siva Krishna (Naga Chaitanya) are Vijay Krishna’s two brothers. Vijay Krishna is killed by Shankar because he is establishing his own identity. Now is the moment for cool-headed, bold, and dashing Siva Krishna to make his appearance and finish the revenge story. Another angle in the story is how Siva Krishna’s love life is impacted, particularly with his college friend Geeta (Amala Paul), who happens to be the daughter of top brass policeman Adi Vishnu (Ahuti Prasad).
