Story:

“Zanjeer,” a 2013 Indian action crime film directed by Apoorva Lakhia, was simultaneously shot in Hindi and Telugu, titled “Thoofan.” Serving as a remake of the 1973 Hindi film of the same name, it featured Ram Charan and Priyanka Chopra in their respective language debuts, with Sanjay Dutt in a pivotal role in Hindi, replaced by Srihari in Telugu.

Supporting roles were played by Prakash Raj, Atul Kulkarni, and Mahie Gill. Reliance BIG Entertainment acquired worldwide distribution rights for ₹105 crore (US$13 million), but the film received predominantly negative reviews upon release. The storyline revolves around ACP Vijay Khanna, an unwavering police officer consistently transferred for pursuing corrupt underworld figures.

Haunted by the murder of his parents, Vijay’s birthday memories are marred by a mysterious man in a black raincoat. Vijay takes charge of a case involving the murder and burning of the district collector. Mala, a key eyewitness played by Priyanka Chopra, refuses to cooperate due to the threat posed by Teja’s (Prakash Raj) oil mafia gang.

Despite initial resistance, Vijay convinces Mala to provide a statement, putting her life in danger. While sheltering Mala in his house, a complex relationship develops between them. Vijay, grappling with the painful memory of his parents’ death, eventually reciprocates Mala’s growing affection. The narrative unfolds with emotional moments and the revelation of Vijay’s troubled past.

Vijay encounters Sher Khan, involved in the illegal car trade, and Jaydev (JD), a reporter critical of Vijay initially. Witnessing Vijay’s honesty and determination, both Sher Khan and Jaydev undergo transformative journeys, becoming allies in Vijay’s quest for justice. The plot thickens as Vijay captures Kataria, the man responsible for the collector’s murder.

Kataria, linked to Teja’s gang, unveils a complex scheme involving the theft and smuggling of petrol and oil. Despite Vijay’s efforts, Kataria is found murdered in custody.Misinformation leads to Vijay’s suspension, prompting a warning to Teja that he will face consequences. Undeterred, Vijay systematically destroys Teja’s oil refineries, though Mala warns of potential dangerous repercussions.

A series of intense confrontations ensue, including attacks on Vijay and Mala. Sher Khan’s intervention saves Vijay’s life, establishing a deeper bond between them. The escalating conflict sets the stage for the final showdown with Teja.Teja’s retaliation includes the killing of Jaydev, triggering panic in the city. Investigations by sub-inspectors reveal a sinister connection between Teja, Saalwe, and Bosco.

The commissioner acknowledges Vijay’s innocence and declares Teja a wanted criminal. In a climactic confrontation, Vijay confronts Teja in an old mine. Discovering Teja as the murderer of his parents, Vijay unleashes a vengeful beating, ultimately causing Teja’s demise. The government announces Mona’s entitlement to Teja’s wealth, and the film concludes with Sher Khan and Mala visiting Vijay, symbolizing a sense of closure and Vijay’s return to a semblance of normalcy.
