Most Watched Indian Movies That Ruled OTT Platforms In 2024

The Indian entertainment industry has produced some of the finest content in 2024. As footfall increased in theaters, the number of OTT users also multiplied. Many movies that couldn’t perform well in the theaters made a remarkable impact on digital platforms. From Devara to Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD, several Indian films have been trending on OTT in 2024. Now, as we approach a new year, take a look at some Indian movies that are most watched on OTT platforms.

Indian Movies That Ruled OTT

1. Maharaja

First on the list is Kollywood actor Vijay Sethupathi-starrer action-thriller Maharaja. The film is a gripping story of a barber who goes on a quest to avenge those who robbed his home. Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, it also stars Anurag Kashyap and Mamta Mohandas. The movie became an instant hit upon its release on Netflix in July and also one of the most popular Indian films on the platform. As per reports, the film has garnered a staggering 19.7 million views.

2. Laapatta Ladies

Kiran Rao’s directorial, feel-good Hindi drama movie Laapataa Ladies remains second in the most-watched Bollywood movies on the OTT list. The film follows the story of two brides who get exchanged in a train mishap from their husbands, leading to a heartwarming and hilarious journey of self-discovery and liberty. The film is amongst the highest-watched movies on Netflix, with a viewership of 17.1 million views.

3. Amar Singh Chamkila

Next in the list is the top Indian movie on OTT, Amar Singh Chamkila, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra. The movie is based on the life of an iconic Punjabi folk singer who was one of the controversial figures in the state. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Chamkila became a sensation when it started streaming on Netflix and reportedly has a total of 12.9 million views.

4. Shaitaan

Ajay Devgn’s psychological horror thriller movie Shaitaan made an outstanding debut on Netflix, crossing 3.2 million views and 6.9 million viewing hours within 48 hours of its release on May 4, 2024. The film also stars R. Madhavan and Jyothika and earned Rs 213 crore worldwide at the box office. Its total viewership stands at 14.8 million views, and it is one of the best Hindi movies from 2024 to watch on OTT.

5. Fighter

Hrithik Roshan’s aerial action Fighter has a total of 14 million views on Netflix. The movie also stars Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor in key roles and is also among the best Hindi movies on Netflix in 2024. Directed by Siddharth Anand, Fighter achieved around 5.9 million views, making it the third most-watched non-English film on the OTT platform.

6. Kalki 2898 AD

One of the most popular movies of 2024, Kalki 2898 AD had a total viewership of 8 million views on Netflix, becoming the most popular South Indian film to stream on OTT. The Telugu sci-fi film starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone blends mythology and futuristic concepts seamlessly. While Kalki’s Hindi version is available on Netflix, its Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam versions can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.

7. Devara: Part 1

On the other hand, Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Devara: Part 1 surpassed Kalki by garnering 8.6 million views on Netflix. It is the second most viewed South Indian film on the platform in 2024.

8. Lucky Baskhar

Dulquer Salmaan’s period drama Lucky Baskhar has been trending on Netflix for the second week, making it the top South Indian film from 2024 to trend globally on the platform with a total of 11.7 million views. Directed by Venky Atluri, Lucky Baskhar revolves around a bank cashier who gets into a risky investment scheme.

9. The Crew

In the list of most-watched Indian films of 2024 globally, The Crew has a total of 17 million views on Netflix. It centers around three flight attendants who enter into a dangerous gold-smuggling racket to safeguard their jobs after their airline goes bankrupt. The comedy movie stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, Kriti Sanon Diljit Dosanjh, and Kapil Sharma and was directed by Rajesh Krishnan.

Anweshippin Kandethum: 3.6 Million
