Indian screenwriter and filmmaker Yunus Sajawal is the creative force behind many of the big Bollywood films. Having grown up in Mumbai, Maharashtra, the film city, he has written dialogue for roughly fifty Hindi films throughout the course of his nearly three-decade career.
His first project was co-writing the screenplay for the action-drama “Shatranj” (1993) directed by Aziz Sejawal and starring Mithun Chakraborthy and Jackie Shroff. He helped screenwriter Sanjeev Duggal with the comedic portions of the movie.
Yunus’s inventiveness impressed Aziz so much that he hired him to write the scripts for four additional films: “Mafia” (1996), “Sanam” (1997), “Hero Hindustani” (1998), and “Chalo Ishq Ladaaye” (2002).
By that point, Yunus was well-known throughout the world and was associated with humorous literature. He worked with filmmaker Rohit Shetty for the first time in the comedy drama “Golmaal Returns” in 2008.
Yunus became a mainstay in Shetty’s upcoming films due to the critical acclaim of the first film, which included “Golmaal 3” (2010), “Singham” (2011), “Bol Bachchan” (2012), “Chennai Express” (2013), “Singham Returns” (2014), “Dilwale” (2015), “Golmaal Again” (2017), “Simmba” (2018), and most recently, “Sooryavanshi,” which is currently in preproduction.
In addition, Sajawal dabbled in directing, making his feature film debut with “Benny and Babloo” (2010), which starred Rajpal Yadav and Kay Kay Menon. Both reviewers and viewers found the film to be a hilarious roller coaster and gave it positive reviews.
