Woody Allen is an American director, author, actor, and comedian who has been active for more than six decades now, thus becoming one of the most prolific figures of the world cinema. He is famous for his style of mixing humor, romanticism, philosophy, and deep storytelling, having written and directed more than 50 movies, including his well-known works like Annie Hall, Manhattan, Hannah and Her Sisters, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Bullets over Broadway, Match Point, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Midnight in Paris, Blue Jasmine, and Café Society. His films usually tell the stories about love, relationships, moral questions, existentialism, art, and human frailty using witty dialogue and complex characters. In the course of his career Woody Allen has won several awards, among which are Academy Awards, BAFTAs, and Golden Globes, including an Academy Award for Best Picture for Annie Hall. Known as the creator of modern independent film-making and romantic comedy, his contribution to the filmmaking industry has been huge despite his long-term personal scandal.
